Last week, a TAP Air Portugal Airbus A330 flying from Newark to Lisbon landed with one engine operational following an in-flight shutdown. The aircraft also experienced a hydraulic failure during its descent into Lisbon. As a result, the crew declared 'PAN PAN,' indicating that while there was no immediate danger, assistance might be needed.

The twin-aisle aircraft landed safely in Lisbon without injuries reported among passengers or crew. However, the plane has been out of service since the incident and has not flown for three days. TAP Air Portugal flight TP204 is a regular overnight transatlantic service from Newark Liberty International Airport to Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, TAP's main hub.

On May 22nd, an A330-200 registered as CS-TOO operated the flight. After being delayed on an earlier round trip from Lisbon to Funchal and back, its departure from Newark was 97 minutes late. During the approach to Lisbon, the flight experienced an engine shutdown due to a clogged oil filter at 41,000 feet, approximately 370 nautical miles from its destination.

While descending through 20,000 feet towards Lisbon, issues arose with low pressure in the fuel right wing pumps and faults in the blue hydraulic system and one of the slat systems. Despite these challenges, the plane landed safely.

According to The Aviation Herald, only certain ground spoilers and the right-hand engine's thrust reverser were deployed upon landing on runway 02 at Lisbon Airport. The aircraft then taxied to the apron after making up about half of its initial delay during its transatlantic journey.

Flight data shows that CS-TOO has remained grounded since this event. Simple Flying reached out to TAP Air Portugal for additional information regarding this matter.
