Since the launch of the Airbus A330neo aircraft family in 2014, which includes the A330-800 and the A330-900 models, there has been a steady increase in operators using these aircraft. The A330-900 has proven more popular than its counterpart, with numerous airlines adding it to their fleets. Recently, Vietjet announced an additional 20 orders for the A330-900, doubling its backlog.

As of April 30, Airbus had secured 12 orders for the A330-800 and 372 for the A330-900. Deliveries included seven of the former and 150 of the latter. Among current operators, three airlines have received A330-800s: Air Greenland (one), Uganda Airlines (two), and Kuwait Airways (four). The backlog includes five undelivered units to Accipter Holdings and Garuda Indonesia.

Garuda Indonesia's order remains active according to Airbus records. However, on December 30, 2022, Garuda amended its purchase agreement with Airbus to include cancellation rights if compensation is paid. "As [of] 28 May 2024," said Garuda Indonesia in a statement, "the Company exercised the cancellation rights of the delivery of 4 Airbus A330-800."

The larger A330-900 model has seen wider adoption with deliveries made to Delta Air Lines (34), TAP Air Portugal (19), Condor (18), Cebu Pacific Air (11), ITA Airways (11), Corsair (nine), Lion Air (eight), Virgin Atlantic (eight), Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (seven), among others.

Delta Air Lines is currently the largest operator globally for this model with plans for over 200 weekly departures from various U.S. airports including New York-JFK and Los Angeles International Airport.

In Europe, TAP Air Portugal ranks as a significant operator with plans for over a hundred weekly departures connecting Lisbon Airport to various destinations. Meanwhile, Condor operates nearly a hundred weekly flights from Frankfurt Airport.

Asia-Pacific also hosts several operators like Cebu Pacific Air which maintains an extensive schedule across regional routes with its fleet of eleven A330-900s.

In Africa and the Middle East region, Kuwait Airways operates both variants of the neo family while airlines such as flynas have been utilizing wet-leased aircraft from Lion Air.

The global distribution of these aircraft reflects their versatility across diverse markets ranging from domestic routes within North America to long-haul international services linking Europe with Asia-Pacific regions.
