A 79-year-old traveler recently boarded the wrong flight at Copenhagen Airport, leading to an unexpected journey from Denmark to Italy. The individual intended to fly with easyJet to Berlin but ended up on a Ryanair flight bound for Bologna. According to the Swedish tabloid Expressen, both flights departed from the same gate, contributing to the confusion.

The traveler recounted that after passing through security and seeing a queue at the gate, they joined it based on airport screens indicating it was for easyJet passengers heading to Berlin. Upon landing in Bologna, they realized their mistake when greeted by signs welcoming them to Italy.

Despite showing their passport and boarding pass, neither airline staff nor security noticed the error. Aviation analytics company Cirium's Diio Mi tool revealed that between May 19 and May 25, there were six Ryanair departures and 16 easyJet departures scheduled for Berlin and Bologna. Ryanair staff later assisted the traveler by arranging a taxi to Venice and providing accommodation before flying them from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Berlin on May 23.

Flight records show that on May 22, Ryanair's flight FR2676 departed Copenhagen for Bologna at 10:40 local time, while easyJet's flight U2 5266 was scheduled for Berlin at 12:55 but actually left at 14:01.

Such incidents are rare but not unheard of in aviation. They highlight potential safety risks if passengers board incorrect flights with bad intentions. A recent case involved a Russian immigrant who was found guilty of being a stowaway on a Delta Air Lines flight from New York to Paris. This incident underscores the importance of thorough checks at airports.
