According to the Associated Press, Panama's refusal to recognize the results of Venezuela's presidential election led to the cessation of air travel and the withdrawal of diplomatic representation by Venezuela. The restoration of flights marks a significant step toward mending strained relations and improving regional connectivity.
Copa Airlines resumed its Panama City to Caracas route with one daily flight starting May 27, 2025, and plans to increase to two daily flights from June 23, 2025. The airline received authorization from Venezuela's National Institute of Civil Aviation (INAC) to reinstate these services. This reactivation allows Venezuela to reconnect with the rest of Latin America through Copa's Hub of the Americas in Panama City.
