The American Express Centurion Lounge at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) Terminal 3 has temporarily closed as of May 27, 2025. This closure is due to the ongoing reconstruction efforts in the terminal. According to American Express, a new lounge will open in Terminal 2 on June 15, 2025, near Gate D12, while the Terminal 3 location will remain closed for up to two years.

The renovation is part of SFO's West Modernization Project, which involves a $2.6 billion investment to update the western half of Terminal 3. The project includes seismic retrofitting, expanded security checkpoints, and additional space for passenger amenities such as food and retail concessions.

Previously located in Terminal 3, Concourse F, the Centurion Lounge was accessible to travelers departing from Terminal 3 and Terminals 2 via post-security connectors. American Express states that eligible Card Members can also access other lounges at SFO: Delta Sky Club, Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, China Airlines Dynasty Lounge, Golden Gate Lounge, and The Club SFO.

The Centurion Lounge offers various amenities for eligible passengers including shower facilities, family rooms, private workspaces, premium dining options, and a selection of spirits and wines. To gain access, travelers need an American Express Platinum Card or eligibility code along with a government-issued ID and a same-day boarding pass.

Card Members can bring guests to the lounge for a fee unless they qualify for complimentary guest access after spending $75,000 in eligible purchases within a calendar year.

American Express continues to expand its presence globally with over three dozen Centurion Lounges at major airports worldwide. The first lounge opened in Las Vegas in 2013 aiming to provide a luxury experience surpassing typical airline offerings.
