Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) continues its dedication to empowering youth through the 2025 FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JAITC), which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event brought together students from across the country to present their entrepreneurial ideas and global trade strategies. Six students were selected to represent Malaysia at the upcoming regional finals in Singapore this August.

The FedEx/JA ITC program, now in its 17th year in Malaysia, aims to encourage entrepreneurial thinking among secondary school students by collaborating with JA Malaysia. This non-profit organization helps prepare young Malaysians for success in a global economy through practical workshops and team challenges.

Participants were tasked with creating a Market Entry Strategy Plan for a sustainable fashion solution targeting China, focusing on minimizing product return waste. Their projects demonstrated critical thinking and creativity while addressing sustainability issues.

The winning teams include:

1. **Team Banana Bloom**: Zilyi Lim Zhi Yue and Wong Pei Yen from SMJK Katholik presented "NanaBanana," a clothing brand using banana silk and hemp fabric co-designed by elderly people. The initiative promotes upcycling by composting returned garments.

2. **Team Clover**: Tan Zheng Yu and Valerie Yong Jia Syuen from SMJK Chung Hwa developed "Clover," a personal digital wardrobe utilizing AI for styling, organizing clothes, and planning outfits via augmented reality.

3. **Team Pure Tag**: Ada Asif and Nina George from Tanarata International School introduced "Jing Bao," smart clothing designed to prevent return fraud using tamper-evident ink sensitive to moisture or cleaning agents.

These teams will join finalists from various countries including Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam for an exchange of ideas aimed at fostering cross-cultural collaboration and developing future business leaders.

Tien Long Woon, managing director of FedEx Malaysia stated that as the business landscape evolves rapidly, it is crucial to equip young people with both business skills and a global mindset. He said this program plays a significant role in broadening perspectives beyond the classroom.

Since its inception in 2008, the FedEx/JA ITC program has engaged over 9,900 Malaysian students in developing innovative skills essential for future leadership roles. Past participants have achieved notable successes at regional competitions reflecting strong collaboration between FedEx and JA Malaysia.
