Redmond Municipal Airport has announced that American Airlines will resume its seasonal direct flights to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The service will run from June 5 through October 6. DFW is a major hub in American's network, offering connections to 240 global destinations.

American Airlines will operate the daily non-stop flights using Airbus A320 series jets, which can accommodate up to 150 passengers with a configuration of 138 economy seats and 12 first-class seats.

Zachary Bass, Redmond Airport Manager, commented on the new service: “This will be the farthest eastbound direct flight offered at RDM and will connect passengers to some outstanding locations. American Airlines has more than 800 outbound flights departing daily from DFW, significantly increasing travel options for Central Oregon business and leisure passengers connecting through Dallas.”

Redmond Municipal Airport serves as the primary commercial airport in Central Oregon and is undergoing a two-year terminal expansion project. The Redmond City Council has approved $6.5 million for final drawings and $98 million for the main expansion. The new terminal will feature additional waiting areas, stores, and dining options.

The airport currently offers direct flights to 13 locations and aims to attract more airlines by improving its facilities. Roberts Field is owned by the City of Redmond and serves as a base for several aviation services including firefighting operations.

Bass spoke with KTVZ21 about the impact of the new service on local travel options: “American Airlines has more than 800 outbound flights departing daily from DFW, significantly increasing travel options for Central Oregon business and leisure passengers connecting through Dallas.”
