Air New Zealand is set to introduce a new seasonal route connecting Christchurch and Adelaide, offering travelers a direct link between the South Island of New Zealand and South Australia. The service will commence on October 27, 2025, and run twice weekly until March 27, 2026. Tickets for this route will be available for purchase starting at 10 am tomorrow.

The airline plans to operate the flights on Mondays and Fridays using a narrowbody Airbus jet, providing approximately 15,000 seats throughout the season. Fares for the journey start at $340 one way.

Greg Foran, Chief Executive Officer of Air New Zealand, emphasized the significance of this new service in the airline's growth strategy. "We know there's strong demand for direct services between the South Island and Australia – not just for Kiwi travellers wanting to explore, but also to welcome more Australian tourists directly into the heart of the South Island," he stated.

Foran highlighted that this route offers greater convenience for both South Islanders traveling to Australia and Australians visiting New Zealand. He noted that it provides easier access to destinations such as Queenstown and Fiordland as well as renowned food and wine regions in New Zealand.

"Air New Zealand is entering an exciting new era. It's exciting to see growth in our short haul network, and customers can expect more good news on increased services in the near future. We're looking forward to welcoming more travellers onboard this summer," Foran added.

In addition to this new route, Air New Zealand continues its operations with four to six weekly services between Auckland and Adelaide.

Tickets can be booked from airnewzealand.co.nz starting tomorrow morning.
