Long Beach Airport has announced the launch of "Airwaves: Summer Concerts at LGB," a series of three outdoor concerts open to the public. These events will take place in the pre-security plaza north of the Historic Terminal, with free parking for four hours available to attendees in Parking Structure B.

Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Music is the cultural heartbeat of Long Beach, and I’m thrilled that we’re bringing this unique concert experience to such a historic and unique venue.” He added that the concerts celebrate what makes Long Beach special, including music and shared moments with friends and family.

The concert series begins on Saturday, July 12, featuring Sweet Soul music with headliner The Delfonics Experience. On August 16, Rocksteady will be highlighted by Monty Neysmith. The final concert on September 20 will focus on Latin Jazz Funk, with artists to be announced later. Each event runs from 5 to 8 p.m., free of charge with online RSVP until capacity is reached.

Cynthia Guidry, Airport Director, commented on the initiative: “Long Beach Airport is proud to offer a new way for our community to engage with the Airport’s iconic space.” She emphasized that Airwaves: Summer Concerts showcases Long Beach's spirit and live music scene against the backdrop of their Historic Terminal.

The series is curated by Soulside Productions and marks an expansion from LGB Live!, which usually targets travelers post-security. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and enjoy activities like children’s entertainment, food trucks, and guided tours. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

Long Beach Airport emphasizes integrating arts into its environment as part of enhancing travel experiences through various displays. For more information about these events or details about performers as they become available, visit lgb.org/music.
