The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) announced it welcomed Representative Pete Stauber as a keynote speaker at the ALPA 2025 Summit, recognizing his legislative support for pilots. The announcement was made on X.

According to the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Pete Stauber co-introduced the bipartisan Mental Health in Aviation Act of 2025, aiming to improve access to mental health care for pilots and air traffic controllers. The legislation directs the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to update its mental health policies and procedures, ensuring that aviators are not unfairly penalized for seeking necessary care. This initiative reflects Stauber's commitment to addressing the unique mental health challenges faced by aviation professionals.

As reported by Reuters, the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, supported by Stauber, includes provisions to enhance aviation safety and consumer protections. The $105 billion, five-year measure mandates 25-hour cockpit recording devices, increases penalties for airline consumer violations, and aims to address a shortage of 3,000 air traffic controllers by directing the FAA to implement improved staffing standards. Stauber's support for this legislation underscores his dedication to strengthening the aviation industry's safety framework.

According to ALPA, Stauber's keynote address at the ALPA 2025 Summit highlighted his ongoing efforts to support pilots through legislative initiatives. His work on the Mental Health in Aviation Act and contributions to the FAA Reauthorization Act were recognized as significant strides in promoting pilot well-being and aviation safety. Stauber's engagement with ALPA members reflects his role as a staunch advocate for the aviation community on Capitol Hill.

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), established in 1931, is the world's largest airline pilot union, representing over 77,000 pilots at 41 airlines in the United States and Canada. ALPA's mission encompasses advocating for airline safety, pilot rights, and regulatory improvements at both national and international levels. The organization actively engages in collective bargaining, training standards development, and aviation policy advocacy to support its members and enhance the aviation industry.
