Hainan Airlines has announced the operation of a direct flight from Rome to Chongqing for the cast and crew of the National Theatre of Naples, who are performing "The Divine Comedy" musical in China. The announcement was made on X.

According to Hainan Airlines, flight HU7992 transported 40 members of the National Theatre of Naples from Rome to Chongqing to commence their China tour of "The Divine Comedy" musical. This initiative celebrates the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Italy, highlighting the airline's role in facilitating international cultural exchanges. The direct flight underscores Hainan Airlines' commitment to supporting global artistic collaborations.

As reported by China Daily, "The Divine Comedy" musical, adapted from Dante Alighieri's 14th-century masterpiece, is set to tour 15 cities across China, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, with a total of 57 performances. The tour aims to enhance cultural ties between China and Italy, offering Chinese audiences an opportunity to experience Italian theatrical artistry. The production is a significant component of the China-Italy Year of Culture and Tourism.

According to iChongqing, the musical's premiere in Chongqing marks the beginning of its China tour, serving as a cultural bridge between the two nations. The event was attended by notable figures, including the Chairman of Chongqing Culture and Tourism Group and the Consul General of Italy in Chongqing, emphasizing the production's diplomatic significance. The collaboration reflects a deepening of China-Italy cultural relations through performing arts.
