Ontario, California, marked a significant milestone by welcoming its second long-haul passenger route from STARLUX Airlines, connecting to Taipei. This development makes STARLUX the second airline operating Airbus A350 aircraft on this route. Ontario, located within the Greater Los Angeles area, is currently ranked as the 60th-busiest airport in the United States based on passenger flights for June.

The new route has a maximum block time of 14 hours and 5 minutes and joins a list of ten Californian A350 routes exceeding 14 hours in duration. With this addition, STARLUX now serves four US airports, three of which are in California: Los Angeles, Ontario, and San Francisco.

The longest nonstop A350 flight from California remains Singapore Airlines' service to Los Angeles with a block time of up to 17 hours and 35 minutes. Other notable long-haul routes include Singapore Airlines' flights to San Francisco and Qatar Airways' services from Doha to both Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Singapore Airlines operates its A350-900 aircraft on these routes with specific configurations that include business class suites, premium economy seats, and regular economy seating. The airline has been flying the A350 variant to Los Angeles since November 2018.

STARLUX's entry into Ontario aims to benefit from lower operational costs compared to Los Angeles International Airport while serving the substantial Taiwanese population in the area. The US Department of Transportation reported that China Airlines carried over 206,000 round-trip passengers between Ontario and Taipei last year. Like China Airlines, STARLUX is expected to benefit from connecting passengers traveling onward to other Asian destinations such as Manila and Ho Chi Minh City.
