Delta Air Lines experienced a disruption on June 3, 2025, when an Airbus A319 flight from Chicago Midway to Atlanta was forced to divert due to a mechanical issue with the aircraft's flaps. The crew decided not to return to Chicago and instead diverted the flight to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
The aircraft landed safely in Cincinnati at approximately 15:06 local time, and passengers disembarked without incident. Delta Air Lines arranged for a replacement Boeing 737-800 to continue the journey, which departed Cincinnati at 18:42 and arrived in Atlanta at 19:51.
A Delta spokesperson stated, “While en route from Chicago-Midway (MDW) to Atlanta (ATL), Delta flight 2417 diverted to Cincinnati (CVG) after indication of a mechanical issue. The flight landed without incident and taxied to the gate, where customers deplaned normally. Delta has reaccommodated customers on a new aircraft and departed for ATL. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels.”
