Ryanair is on course for a potentially record-breaking summer, as indicated by recent passenger data from the airline's Investor Relations report. The Irish low-cost carrier anticipates serving over 200 million customers in the fiscal year 2025.

Passenger numbers have rebounded significantly since the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw Ryanair shut down operations entirely for April 2020. By 2023, passenger figures had surpassed pre-pandemic levels, reaching 183.7 million and further increasing to 200.2 million in 2024.

The airline has expanded its network to include 229 year-round and seasonal destinations across 37 countries. Notably, Ryanair introduced four new routes from La Rochelle–Île de Ré Airport to London, Brussels, Cork, and Dublin in April this year.

Despite rising passenger numbers, Chief Executive Michael O’Leary noted that ticket prices are expected to increase due to external challenges impacting profitability. He stated: "While we cautiously expect to recover most but not all of last year’s 7% fare decline, which should lead to reasonable net profit growth in 2025-26, it is far too early to provide any meaningful guidance."

For the current fiscal year beginning in April, Ryanair reported serving 18.3 million customers in April and 19.6 million in May—an increase of six percent and four percent respectively compared to the previous year. These figures represent some of the highest monthly customer numbers ever recorded by the airline.

Ryanair's fleet expansion supports this growth trajectory. As per their 2024 annual report, they operate with a fleet of 619 active aircraft and have placed orders for an additional 336 aircraft. The fleet includes Airbus A320-200s and Boeing models such as the 737-700, 737-800, and various configurations of the Boeing MAX series.

With these developments and increased fares aimed at restoring profitability, Ryanair appears well-prepared for what could be its busiest summer yet.
