Airbus has released its order and delivery statistics for May, revealing that the company did not secure any new orders during the month. The European aircraft manufacturer delivered 51 aircraft to various customers, including Wizz Air's first A321XLR.

The company confirmed that an earlier order for 12 A350 aircraft, consisting of six A350-900s and six A350-1000s, was attributed to British Airways and Iberia. This information was disclosed by their parent company, International Airlines Group (IAG), on May 9.

"On June 5, Airbus released its May orders and deliveries numbers, revealing that the planemaker had not secured any new orders during the month," a statement from Airbus said. Despite no new orders in May, Airbus' net orders for 2025 remain at 215 aircraft.

An undisclosed customer or customers previously ordered six A350-900s and six A350-1000s on March 6. IAG announced its Q1 results on May 9, stating plans to order these 12 A350s along with other aircraft models such as the A330-900 and Boeing's 787-10. However, the A330-900 order has yet to appear in Airbus' backlog.

Additionally, another unidentified customer ordered 13 A320neo and 17 A321neo aircraft in May. These orders remain listed under an unidentified airline in Airbus' records. With no new cancellations or orders recorded in May, Airbus maintains a total of 215 net orders for the year.

During May, Airbus delivered a variety of aircraft types to different airlines worldwide. Deliveries included one A220-100 to Comlux and several others across different models like the A319neo and various neo series aircraft.

A notable delivery involved Wizz Air receiving its first-ever A321XLR, which arrived at London Luton Airport before moving to London Gatwick Airport where it commenced service on routes including Athens Airport.

In the United States, several airlines received new deliveries from Airbus despite concerns over trade tensions between the EU and US potentially affecting future backlogs. Delta Air Lines received four new planes during this period but has expressed concerns about tariffs impacting future deliveries.

Airbus' delivery pace lags behind last year's figures even though they aimed for around 820 deliveries in 2025 after revising previous targets downward. As of late May this year compared to last year’s numbers, deliveries were slightly lower than anticipated.

CEO Guillaume Faury noted during a conference earlier this year that agreements with engine suppliers aim to support customers facing shortages at present times while anticipating improvements throughout upcoming months into next year’s schedules.
