Last month, over 130 volunteers from Delta Air Lines and several partner organizations collaborated to construct a new playground in College Park, Georgia. This initiative marks the 43rd playground built by Delta since their partnership with KABOOM! began in 2013. The project was part of Delta’s Global Sales annual conference, Connect 2025.

The playspace is located at Embarcadero Apartments and provides a safe environment for around 400 children residing in the complex. It is also open to the public. Local residents assisted with the construction, expressing enthusiasm for having an accessible playground in their community.

Bianca Motley Broom, Mayor of College Park, praised Delta's involvement: “Embarcadero has always been the center of activity in our community,” she said. “We know that Delta isn’t just the company that takes us all across the globe; they actually bring people to help make our community better. I can’t think of a better corporate partner for our community.”

Delta Global Sales leaders Bob Somers and Shawn Cole participated actively in the project alongside City Councilman Joe Carn, who had been involved in planning the playground for a year.

Councilman Carn remarked during closing events, “Delta is a great company, and this is such a blessing for the City of College Park... We’re going to encourage people in this community to fly with Delta because Delta is investing in our community.”

The playground features various equipment including slides, a rock-climbing wall, and swings like Georgia's first accessibility-friendly FLEXX swing. Volunteers also worked on additional projects such as painting basketball courts and building walkways. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Favor House received a $10,000 donation from Delta.

Delta continues its support for KABOOM!'s mission to eliminate play space inequality by partnering with communities nationwide. Over ten years, Delta volunteers have contributed to building numerous kid-designed playspaces across the country.
