Lufthansa has announced a change in its retirement schedule for the Airbus A340-600 fleet. Initially, the German airline planned to retire these aircraft by late 2025. However, due to ongoing delays with Boeing 787 deliveries, Lufthansa will now extend the service of its A340-600s until early 2026.
The decision comes after the final C-check was completed on the A340-600 fleet at the end of April. The extension allows Lufthansa to maintain its current capacity while awaiting new aircraft from Boeing.
