United Airlines continues to lead in transatlantic flights, offering more connections between the US and Europe than any other airline. The carrier's most frequented European destination is London Heathrow, bolstered by its recent expansion into new cities such as Bilbao, Faro, Palermo, and Funchal. This expansion marks United as the first North American airline to serve five destinations in Portugal.

The airline now operates flights to 32 European airports across 14 countries, a record number for United. However, services to Tenerife South were discontinued in May but are expected to resume later this year.

According to data from Cirium Diio, United plans an average of 103 daily departures from the US to Europe in June. This represents an increase from 99 daily flights last year and 76 before the pandemic in June 2019. The airline now accounts for more than one-sixth of all US-European services.

London Heathrow remains United's top European market due to its high frequency of routes and use of Boeing 767-300ERs for premium seating. Newark-Heathrow alone sees seven daily flights, highlighting the importance of business travel on this route.

Other major European hubs served by United include Frankfurt with up to ten daily flights and Rome Fiumicino with seven daily flights. Notably, Rome has seen significant growth from three daily flights in 2019.

Frankfurt boasts the highest average seats per flight at 300 due to multiple daily departures using larger aircraft like the Boeing 777-300ERs and Boeing 787-10s. In contrast, Heathrow averages fewer seats per flight due to a focus on higher frequencies using smaller aircraft.
