American Airlines crew injured on two flights amid severe turbulence

Another incident occurred on June 8 with an Airbus A319ceo, registered as N730US, which was flying from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Philadelphia International Airport on flight AA2561. Severe turbulence resulted in one flight attendant being injured. The A319ceo landed in Philadelphia at 11:32 local time, more than half an hour ahead of schedule despite the turbulence.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has not announced any investigation into these events, suggesting they may be considered minor without significant injuries.

Both aircraft resumed service shortly after their respective incidents. The Boeing 777-200ER flew its next route on June 7 to Tokyo Narita International Airport. Meanwhile, the Airbus A319 operated a commercial flight later on June 8 from Philadelphia to Orlando International Airport.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) emphasized managing turbulence as a key focus for aviation safety due to increasing air travel demand and changing weather patterns. IATA’s Turbulence Aware platform has been adopted by several airlines including Delta Air Lines and United Airlines in the US. In recent developments for 2025, airlines such as Air Premia and Etihad Airways have joined the platform.
