Cathay Pacific is set to reintroduce non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Adelaide, beginning November 11, 2025. The service will operate three times a week during the winter season, reestablishing a significant link between the airline's hub and South Australia's capital.

This development adds Adelaide as Cathay Pacific's eighth destination in the Southwest Pacific region. Other destinations include Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Cairns, and Christchurch.

The announcement follows several accolades for Cathay Pacific. The airline has maintained a Seven-Star Safety Rating from AirlineRatings and was recognized as Runner-Up for World's Best Business Class in both the 2025 AirlineRatings Awards and the World's Best Airline Awards.

Cathay Pacific has a longstanding relationship with Adelaide. It began passenger flights to the city in 1992 and has partnered with Flight Training Adelaide for its cadet pilot program for over 30 years. Lavinia Lau, Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer stated: "We are thrilled to be reconnecting our home hub with Adelaide... This return not only reinforces our commitment to South Australia but also expands travel options for our customers across Asia, the Southwest Pacific, and beyond."

Lau added that at peak winter season they would operate nearly 90 return flights weekly to eight Southwest Pacific destinations: "Whether it’s business, leisure or family travel, we’re excited to welcome more travelers onboard and showcase our award-winning service."

The route will use Airbus A350-900 aircraft offering fully lie-flat Business Class seats, Premium Economy cabins, modern Economy seating along with free inflight Wi-Fi and upgraded entertainment options.

Flight schedules are as follows: CX173 departs Hong Kong at 23:30 arriving in Adelaide at 10:30+1 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays; CX174 departs Adelaide at 12:00 arriving in Hong Kong at 17:40 on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. All times are local.

The relaunch is part of a broader growth strategy by Cathay Group which includes adding new routes such as Hyderabad, Dallas among others this year alongside HK Express.

With one of the youngest fleets known for fuel efficiency combined with robust safety records alongside premium services; Cathay Pacific's move highlights its dedication towards excellence while enhancing regional connectivity.
