The Lufthansa Group has announced a significant development in its collaboration with ITA Airways, allowing customers to book combined flights across the two airlines' networks. Starting July 1, 2025, travelers can now combine flights from Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines with long-haul services from ITA Airways under a single booking.

This new arrangement enables passengers to travel seamlessly from Frankfurt and Munich via Rome with ITA Airways to destinations such as Bangkok, Jeddah, Riyadh, and from Brussels to Cairo with Brussels Airlines. Additionally, codeshare flights via Rome to Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo are available through Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines departing from Vienna. These enhancements aim to provide improved connections for customers while ensuring that baggage is directly transported to their final destination. Further codeshare options extending to Africa and Asia are expected in the coming weeks.

Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group, commented on this development: "We are delighted to reach the next milestone in the integration of ITA Airways into the Lufthansa Group. By expanding our codeshare flights – now also for long-haul connections – we are offering our airlines' guests a seamless and consistent travel experience more than ever before."

Since March 2025, passengers of ITA Airways and other airlines within the Lufthansa Group have had access to over 100 new codeshare flights for selected domestic Italian and European routes. The expanded codesharing initiative provides greater flight options and flexibility while simplifying travel logistics by requiring only one ticket per journey.

Customers participating in loyalty programs such as Miles & More or Volare can continue earning and redeeming miles on these shared flights. Once fully implemented, ITA Airways passengers will have access to over 250 destinations through the Lufthansa Group's extensive network.
