ITA Airways announced on X that a radar failure at Naples Capodichino Airport may cause severe delays and cancellations, advising passengers to check flights online before traveling.

According to Anadolu Agency, a radar malfunction at Naples Capodichino Airport on June 9 severely restricted the airport's air traffic control capacity, especially in managing incoming flights. ENAV, the Italian air navigation service provider, said that the failure affected the terminal radar area, necessitating the rerouting and cancellation of dozens of flights. The disruption lasted several hours and affected both domestic and international air traffic.

As reported by AVIONEWS, at least 45 flights were canceled and numerous others delayed or diverted due to the radar outage at Naples Capodichino Airport. The radar system failure led to significant disruption, with passengers stranded in terminals or redirected to other cities. Authorities and airline personnel had to manage overcrowded terminals and provide logistical support for affected travelers.

According to a press release from Aeroporti di Napoli, full operational capacity at Naples Airport resumed by 14:30 local time on June 10, following the repair and replacement of the faulty radar system. Passengers were advised to consult flight information pages and coordinate with airlines before travel to confirm real-time updates. The incident has prompted discussions about the resilience and modernization of regional air traffic infrastructure.

According to ITA Airways’ official company profile, the airline serves as Italy’s national flag carrier and was established in October 2021 after the closure of Alitalia. The airline operates a fleet of Airbus aircraft and serves routes across Europe, North America, and Asia. As a member of the SkyTeam alliance, ITA Airways focuses on sustainability, service quality, and reinforcing Italy’s presence in global aviation.
