Icelandair and Air India have announced a new codeshare partnership aimed at enhancing connectivity between India and Iceland. The agreement, revealed on June 2, 2025, during the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, will offer travelers seamless options across 15 routes in India and Europe.

The collaboration is expected to bolster travel and trade ties between the two countries by providing passengers with more flexibility and choice. The arrangement promises convenient connection times, unified baggage allowances, and improved connectivity through major European hub airports.

Under this agreement, Air India's customers will gain access to Icelandair-operated flights to Reykjavík via Air India's European gateways. The 'AI' designator code of Air India will be added to Icelandair flights between Reykjavik and several major European cities including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Milan, and Zurich.

Conversely, Icelandair's customers will enjoy connections on Air India-operated flights to key Indian cities. Icelandair will add its 'FI' designator code on Air India flights from Delhi to various European destinations such as Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London Heathrow; as well as from Mumbai to Frankfurt and London Heathrow.

The availability of these codeshare flights is contingent upon regulatory approvals. Once approved, they will be progressively made available for sale through both airlines’ booking channels.

Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO of Icelandair remarked: "This strategic partnership with Air India marks a significant milestone... It will connect Iceland to Air India’s extensive network."

Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India added: "We are happy to embark on this codeshare partnership with Icelandair... This partnership underscores Air India’s ambition to expand our global reach."

Both airlines see this partnership as an opportunity to extend their market reach while enhancing their route networks through increased focus on airline partnerships.
