Ben Minicucci President & CEO | Alaska Airlines

For Cody and Malachi, working alongside their fathers at Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines is a daily experience that brings together family ties and a shared enthusiasm for aviation.

Both father-son pairs have roots in the airline industry. Cody works as a line maintenance inspector in Seattle, while his father Jeremy is the managing director of safety at Horizon Air. Similarly, Malachi serves as a cargo agent in Honolulu with his father Sione, who has been with Hawaiian Airlines for 18 years.

Jeremy's career spans nearly 35 years in the U.S. Air Force before transitioning to Alaska Airlines. He has held roles such as fighter pilot and flight instructor before joining the airline sector in 2019. His son Cody followed him into the Air Force and later joined Alaska Airlines' Maintenance and Engineering division after earning an airframe and powerplant license.

Cody has received recognition for his contributions to safety at Alaska Airlines, including two SOAR Awards. “It’s great to see him succeed at Alaska,” Jeremy remarked about his son's achievements.

In Hawaii, Malachi joined Hawaiian Airlines encouraged by his father Sione after college. They both work at Hawaiian's cargo facility on Oʻahu, sharing responsibilities in transporting essential goods across the islands.

“Working with my son is a true blessing for me,” said Sione about their professional relationship. Their work involves serving local communities by delivering various supplies throughout Hawaii.

Even outside of work hours, both families spend time together engaging in activities like dining out or visiting other islands. For Father's Day plans, Malachi deferred restaurant choice to his dad, knowing he would choose Side Street Inn near Waikīkī.

“Wherever my dad wants to eat, we’ll go,” said Malachi about their Father’s Day tradition.
