Lufthansa Group Airlines has introduced new digital functions aimed at enhancing the travel experience for passengers. The improvements come as part of the Lufthansa Group app, which has been recognized as the best airline app worldwide.

"We are there for our customers and provide them with an all-round service throughout their flight – supported by digital functions," said Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group. He added that passengers are encouraged to create a Travel ID profile, which offers various advantages and enhances journey comfort.

The updated app now features faster flight searches and smoother booking experiences. It also allows users to integrate travel documents and save personal data for future bookings. More than 15 million customers have already created a digital profile.

The app now checks ESTA travel authorization during online check-in for trips to the USA, and it includes improved passport scanning features. Additionally, it provides information on entry guidelines and visa requirements stored in the Travel ID.

Status, Business, and First Class guests can use the app to find nearby lounges quickly. Digital menu cards and e-journals are available before flights, and booking confirmations have been redesigned.

Self-service options have been introduced, allowing travelers to adjust plans more easily through the app. In case of changes or aircraft swaps affecting seat reservations, refunds will be processed automatically if applicable.

Passengers can now cancel individual tickets from group bookings via the app or website under fare conditions. Online services also allow quick booking of sports baggage and pets in cabins.

For flight irregularities resulting in overnight stays, taxi vouchers will be provided automatically via email or the app. AirTag users can share baggage locations with tracing systems through digital channels.

New online forms help passengers submit suggestions or compensation claims efficiently by checking entries for discrepancies.

The Help Center on Lufthansa websites and apps offers targeted advice using artificial intelligence. Passengers with urgent requests receive priority support from the Service Center's AI chat assistant available in multiple languages including German, English, Italian, French, and Spanish.
