Silver Airways has officially ceased operations after a challenging period. The airline, which operated flights primarily from Florida using ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection at the end of 2024. Despite efforts to restructure financially, the airline's situation did not improve in 2025, leading to the cancellation of all flights from Orlando three months ago.

The airline failed to attract any bids at its recent bankruptcy auction and is now planning to sell its assets to a holding company. However, this company does not intend to continue Silver Airways' flight operations. This marks the end of more than 13 years of service for the airline known for its distinctive pink livery.

Silver Airways confirmed earlier today that it would cease operations immediately. The Florida-based regional carrier initially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December 2024 with hopes of financial restructuring by early 2025. However, circumstances worsened in March when flights from Orlando were abruptly stopped. WTSP reports that Silver Airways will sell its assets to Wexford Capital. In an open letter to passengers, the airline stated:

"We regret to inform you that we are ceasing operations as of today, June 11th, 2025. In an attempt to restructure in bankruptcy, Silver entered into a transaction to sell its assets to another airline holding company, which, unfortunately, has determined not to continue Silver's flight operations in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. Please do not go to the airport. All credit card purchases should be refunded through your credit card company or your travel agency."

At the time of closure, Silver Airways had eight aircraft in its fleet: three ATR 42-600s and five ATR 72-600s with an average age of around seven years. One ATR 72 had been grounded since April after flying from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando for maintenance.

According to Cirium data, Silver Airways was scheduled for over 1,500 flights this month with nearly evenly split services between ATR models on routes like Fort Lauderdale-Tampa.

Silver Airways was established in May 2011 when Victory Park Capital acquired Gulfstream International Airlines' assets following its bankruptcy filing. It began operations later that year and transitioned fully to an ATR fleet while serving routes across Florida and the Caribbean.
