Delta Air Lines has launched a new nonstop service from Salt Lake City to Seoul Incheon, marking the first time South Korea is connected to Utah. This development, which began on June 12, establishes Salt Lake City's longest route ever and ends a 14-year absence of nonstop service to Asia from Delta's fourth-busiest hub.

The new route is part of an alliance-driven initiative with SkyTeam and Korean Air. Flights will operate daily during the summer and three times weekly in the winter using Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The inaugural flight was operated by an aircraft featuring Delta's centenary livery.

This marks the second attempt by Delta's Utah hub at establishing Asian flights. The first was in 2009 when Delta, following its merger with Northwest Airlines, offered flights to Tokyo Narita. Those services ended in 2011.

Delta's expansion to Seoul allows for extensive codeshare opportunities with Korean Air and China Airlines, connecting passengers to over 30 Asian airports from Seoul and more than 50 North American airports via Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City now joins other Delta hubs like Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Seattle in offering flights to Seoul. This expansion reflects Delta's strategy of leveraging its partnerships within SkyTeam for international connectivity.

Currently, only one out of every 77 departures from Salt Lake City is long-haul compared to one in 26 at Atlanta. Despite this, Salt Lake City's long-haul destinations have increased to four: Amsterdam, London Heathrow, Paris CDG, and now Seoul Incheon.
