All Nippon Airways (ANA) has introduced a new business class seat, "THE Room FX," specifically designed for its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet. This development was announced at the Paris Air Show and is a collaboration with French manufacturer Safran Seats and UK design firm Acumen.

"THE Room FX" is an evolution of ANA's existing "THE Room" concept previously implemented on the Boeing 777-300ER. The new seat features a fixed sofa-style layout, which differentiates it from traditional lie-flat seats by focusing on comfort and simplicity. ANA plans to introduce these seats in 2026 on major long-haul routes operated by the 787-9.

The seats will be arranged in a 1-2-1 cabin layout, offering direct aisle access and full-height privacy doors. Each suite provides a pitch of 103 inches, converts into a bed stretching up to 76.5 inches, and includes amenities like 24-inch HD screens with Bluetooth audio.

Tomoji Ishii, Executive Vice President of Customer Experience at ANA, stated: "ANA is dedicated to providing the highest level of customer experience and is investing in the future of the most advanced and comfortable travel with the new 'THE Room FX' seat."

Unlike previous designs where aisle-adjacent seats faced forward, THE Room FX reverses this orientation. Additionally, there will be no transitional business-plus zone; instead, it offers a consistent full-business class experience throughout.

Currently operating a fleet of 78 Boeing 787s, ANA intends to deploy THE Room FX exclusively on its Boeing 787-9s across premium-heavy routes such as Frankfurt, Paris, Houston, Los Angeles, Seattle, Munich, Sydney, Perth, and Brussels.
