Stephanie Pope, the CEO of Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA), has traveled to India following the Air India 787-8 crash on June 12th. The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of 241 people onboard and additional casualties on the ground when the aircraft collided with a building in Ahmedabad, India.

The Seattle Times reported that Pope's visit aims to support Air India after the crash at Ahmedabad International Airport. Boeing stated it would not comment on its executive’s travel plans but expressed condolences: “As we have said, our thoughts are with the loved ones of all those affected by Air India Flight 171. We are focused on supporting the investigation and our customer.”

Following the accident, Boeing reduced its participation in the Paris Air Show, which began on June 16th. Kelly Ortberg, Boeing's CEO, canceled his planned visit to the event. In a statement issued after the crash, Ortberg offered condolences and pledged full support for an investigation led by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.

The crash occurred shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad en route to London Gatwick Airport as flight AI171. It was confirmed that 230 passengers, two pilots, and ten cabin crew members were killed along with others on the ground. A single survivor managed to escape through an emergency exit.

Investigative bodies including India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, UK's Air Accidents Investigation Branch, FAA, and NTSB have committed to assisting Indian authorities in their inquiry.

Air India contacted relatives of all passengers and crew members offering condolences and assistance. They also announced interim financial support for affected families alongside Tata Sons' aid commitment.

In light of this being the first hull loss involving a 787 model, Boeing did not announce any new orders during the Paris Air Show out of respect for those impacted by this event.
