The Lufthansa Group has entered into a collaboration with Airbus to promote sustainable business travel. As of June 1, Airbus employees have been using the "Sustainable Corporate Value Fare" for all Lufthansa flights within Germany. This fare allows for the offsetting of parts of calculated CO2 emissions through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in future operations.

Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group, stated: "Together with our customers and strong partners from the industry, we strive towards greater sustainability. I am particularly pleased and thankful that our long-standing partner Airbus has opted for a corporate fare with SAF, demonstrating its leading role also in the field of sustainability. For many companies and its employees, sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor in travel decisions. As a leading airline group, we are the partner of choice for companies in achieving their goals with tailor-made solutions."

Raphael Duflos, Vice President Corporate Services Procurement at Airbus, added: "We have been working in close cooperation with Lufthansa Group since early 2024 to customize their ‘Sustainable Corporate Value Fare’ to meet the specific needs of Airbus travelers. They have helped us to create a meaningful offer incorporating Sustainable Aviation Fuels, starting in the German domestic market. We are confident that such ‘Sustainable Corporate Value Fare’ is going to be successful across the Business Travel ecosystem."

The Lufthansa Group offers several special fares for corporate customers which include options to offset up to 30 percent of CO2 emissions via SAF use. Additionally, companies can invest in larger quantities of SAF through bulk deals.

Regarding SAF usage by Lufthansa Group, it is noted that there is no direct refueling with pure SAF as it is blended with fossil kerosene before being fed into airport infrastructure. The amount needed to offset emissions is incorporated into operations within six months post-purchase. The lifecycle CO2 footprint of this biogenic residue-based SAF is approximately 80 percent lower than conventional kerosene derived from fossil crude oil.
