Airbus has confirmed that Egyptair has placed an order for six additional A350-900 aircraft. This announcement was made during the 2025 Paris Air Show, marking a significant step in Egyptair's expansion strategy. The airline aims to enhance its fleet with these widebody twinjets from Airbus, a company with which it shares a longstanding relationship.

Ahmed Adel, Chair and CEO of Egyptair, stated that the A350 will "contribute to Egypt’s broader efforts to promote more sustainable air transport." He emphasized the strong collaboration between Egyptair and Airbus, noting their history of successful deals and strategic partnerships in aviation. Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus's EVP for Sales of Commercial Aircraft, added that this is the second time EGYPTAIR has ordered the A350. He described it as a testament to the aircraft's value and expressed anticipation for its role in Egyptair’s growth and decarbonization goals.

Egyptair first committed to ordering the A350-900 in November 2023 at the Dubai Air Show by placing an order for ten units. Christian Scherer, Airbus CCO at that time, highlighted how these aircraft would enable access to destinations in the western United States. Additionally, Egyptair became Africa's first airline to commit to Panasonic Avionics' Astrova In-Flight Entertainment system for these planes.

The recent order further strengthens Egyptair's relationship with Airbus as they already operate various narrowbody and widebody airliners from Airbus’s portfolio. Current data shows that Egyptair operates five A330-200s and four A330-300s among other aircraft.

This development comes after Ahmed Adel revealed yesterday that Egyptair was in "advanced discussions" with Airbus regarding options for six more A350s.
