After two successful days at the 2025 Paris Air Show, Airbus has announced a new commitment for its A350F freighter. The European aircraft manufacturer signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Turkish cargo carrier MNG Airlines for two A350F freighters.

This agreement is another success for Airbus' next-generation freighter program, which aims to provide more fuel-efficient and environmentally compliant aircraft. MNG Airlines plans to integrate the A350F into its fleet to support both scheduled and charter services across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America.

Murathan Doruk Günal, CEO of Mapa Group and Chair of MNG Airlines, stated that the deal enhances the airline's ability to serve various regions. He noted that the new widebodies would offer "added flexibility to meet evolving cargo demands, from e-commerce to high-value freight and express logistics." Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus' EVP Sales of Commercial Aircraft, commented: "The A350F will bring new generation efficiency and performance as well as new levels of capacity and unprecedented loading flexibility."

The A350F is becoming a preferred choice for airlines seeking modern widebody freighters due to its range, payload capacity, fuel efficiency, and regulatory compliance. On the first day of the air show, Saudi-backed lessor AviLease ordered 10 A350Fs with plans to expand this order in the future after evaluating both Airbus' and Boeing's offerings.

Airbus originally proposed a freighter version of the A350 in 2005 but formally launched it in 2021 following passenger variant successes. The aircraft features Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines and offers a payload capacity of up to 111 tonnes with a range of 4,700 NM (8,700 km). Its composite airframe contributes to significant weight savings compared to conventional designs.

Despite an entry into service initially targeted for 2025 now moved to 2027, interest in the A350F remains strong among airlines looking for sustainable options. Nine airlines have placed firm orders for this model including Turkish Airlines, Starlux Airlines, Air France among others.

Singapore Airlines is expected to be the launch customer for the A350F after signing a letter of intent in late 2021 followed by firming up their order at the 2022 Singapore Air Show.
