Ethiopian Airlines has announced plans to expand its domestic operations by acquiring two Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft from De Havilland Canada. This move is part of the airline's strategy to enhance its regional services.

The airline, recognized as the largest fleet operating carrier in Africa, aims to bolster its domestic and regional operations while maintaining its international services. Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, expressed satisfaction with the acquisition: “We are pleased to bring back the enhanced version of the DeHavilland Canada Twin Otter DHC-6-300G aircraft into our fleet. These versatile aircraft are designed to support tourism and offer a wide array of services, including air ambulance, airport calibration, and charter operations."

Mr. Tasew highlighted the reliability of these aircraft: "Renowned for their proven reliability, the DHC-6-300G aircraft are capable of landing on airstrips unsuitable for larger aircraft models.” The addition of these new planes marks a significant step for Ethiopian Airlines in connecting communities across Ethiopia and East Africa.
