Air France operates a subfleet of 118 twin-aisle aircraft, with the Boeing 777-300ER being the most numerous at 43 units. These planes are configured in four different layouts, including a high-capacity version with 472 seats. This particular configuration is used primarily on routes to the Caribbean and Indian Ocean, where demand for premium seating is lower.

The airline's 472-seat Boeing 777s feature an economy section with 430 seats arranged in a 3-4-3 layout, a premium economy section with 28 seats in a 2-4-2 layout, and a business class with just 14 seats in a 1-2-1 arrangement. The high-capacity aircraft serve destinations that cater mainly to leisure travelers or those visiting friends and relatives.

During July and August, these aircraft operate daily on several routes from Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG) and Paris Orly airports. Key destinations include Fort-de-France, Pointe-à-Pitre, Réunion, Toronto, Montreal, and New York JFK. Notably, flights to New York JFK began using this configuration on June 16, marking its debut on this route.

The top eight routes account for the majority of flights using the high-capacity configuration during peak summer months. Among these routes are daily services from Paris CDG to Fort-de-France and Pointe-à-Pitre at full capacity usage of the high-density aircraft.

In addition to long-haul destinations, Air France also deploys its high-capacity Boeing 777s on shorter routes such as Paris Orly to Bastia during peak summer travel periods due to increased demand driven by school holidays and tourism.

Air France has historically utilized large aircraft for seasonal demand surges to Corsica but only started flying the current high-capacity Boeing model there since 2023.
