Arajet, a Dominican low-cost airline, is set to begin direct flights from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport to Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic. The service will commence on November 15 and marks Arajet's entry into the Midwest market. This new route becomes Arajet's fifth U.S. destination since it began selling tickets in the United States in February 2025.

Tracey Payne, Acting Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation, said, "On behalf of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, I am proud to welcome Arajet’s new service to Punta Cana at O’Hare International Airport." Payne highlighted that this route enhances Chicago's global connectivity and offers residents an opportunity to travel to warmer climates as winter approaches. It also provides a convenient travel option for Chicagoans with Dominican heritage.

Arajet's CEO and founder, Victor Pacheco, expressed enthusiasm about expanding their presence in the U.S., stating that flying to "Chicago O’Hare International Airport, one of the most important airports in the world," represents a significant step for the airline. He added that this expansion facilitates direct connections for U.S. travelers to Punta Cana, a popular Caribbean vacation spot.

The new service will operate three times weekly using Arajet’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. In addition to connecting Chicago with Punta Cana, this route will link travelers from the Midwest to major South American cities such as Buenos Aires, Lima, Quito, and São Paulo through Arajet’s network.

Punta Cana is noted for its beaches and resorts and serves as a key hub within Arajet’s broader Caribbean and Latin American network. Currently, other airlines like American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, United Airlines from O'Hare, and Southwest from Midway offer nonstop flights to Punta Cana.
