Cathay Pacific will resume flights from Hong Kong International Airport to Adelaide Airport in November 2025. This marks the airline's return to the South Australian city after suspending services in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The flights will operate three times a week during the northern winter season, using Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

The flight schedule includes departures from Hong Kong on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 23:30, arriving in Adelaide at 10:30 the following day. Return flights will leave Adelaide on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 12:00, reaching Hong Kong by 17:40.

Cathay Pacific highlighted its extensive global network from Hong Kong as an advantage for passengers traveling to Adelaide. The airline stated that this service "resumes an important connection between the airline’s home hub and the South Australian capital."

Adelaide holds significance for Cathay Pacific due to its use as a destination for pilot training since 1992. Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer & Commercial Officer of Cathay Pacific, expressed enthusiasm about reconnecting with Adelaide, citing its historical importance for the airline.

In addition to resuming services to Adelaide, Cathay Pacific continues to expand its presence in Australia with year-round flights to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane. Seasonal services are also offered to Cairns.

The carrier operates a fleet including Airbus A350-900s and A350-1000s. The A350-900 can carry up to 280 passengers across business class, premium economy, and economy class configurations.

Cathay Pacific has been expanding its routes throughout 2025 with new services launched to destinations such as Hyderabad and Dallas/Fort Worth. Plans are also underway for new routes including Brussels and Munich.

Adelaide Airport is Australia's fifth-busiest airport by passenger numbers. It serves both domestic and international destinations with growing interest from airlines like United Airlines planning seasonal service from San Francisco starting December 2025.
