Canada's Air Transat is set to expand its transatlantic route network with a new nonstop service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Istanbul Airport (IST) in Turkey. This year-round route will commence on December 6, 2025, with tickets available for booking shortly.

In conjunction with this announcement, Air Transat has entered into an interline agreement with Turkish Airlines. This partnership aims to enhance air services between Canada and Turkey while offering expanded travel options across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

Air Transat plans to operate twice-weekly nonstop flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The airline will join Turkish Airlines as the second carrier providing direct nonstop flights on this route. The journey covers approximately 4,439 nautical miles (8,220 kilometers) and takes around nine to ten hours. Air Transat intends to use its Airbus A330 fleet for these flights.

Currently operating 16 A330 aircraft, Air Transat's presence at Toronto Pearson International Airport is expected to grow through connections facilitated by its joint venture with Porter Airlines. These connections will particularly benefit travelers from Western Canada, Ottawa, Montreal, and the Maritimes.

Air Transat continues to focus on expanding its European market presence. It offers numerous direct flights from Montreal and Toronto to key European destinations such as London, Paris, Rome, Athens, among others. Recently launched routes include a nonstop service between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), starting June 19, 2025.

The airline also plans seasonal expansions of its services to Valencia and Bordeaux during winter months using A321LR aircraft from Montreal starting February 21, 2026.

Skytrax has named Air Transat the world's best leisure airline for 2025. This marks the seventh time it has received this award and the third consecutive year of earning this distinction.
