Alaska Airlines is set to introduce the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID program at its hub airports, following earlier launches in Atlanta and Washington D.C. The rollout will begin in Seattle on June 26, followed by Los Angeles on July 8 and Portland on July 10.

The Touchless ID program allows travelers to verify their identity using facial recognition technology, eliminating the need for physical identification at security checkpoints. This initiative aims to streamline the airport experience and expedite the security process.

Charu Jain, Senior Vice President of Innovation and Merchandising at Alaska Airlines, stated, "Using Touchless ID is going to be a gamechanger for our guests as they navigate our hub airports. No longer needing to juggle a boarding pass and physical ID means our guests can breeze through security with just their face."

The airline emphasizes its commitment to enhancing travel experiences through technological advancements such as electronic bag tags and automated bag drops. The partnership with TSA is part of this effort to provide a seamless journey from booking to arrival at destinations.

Participation in the Touchless ID program is optional but recommended for those who qualify. Eligible travelers must have a valid Known Traveler Number (KTN) from TSA PreCheck or Global Entry and an eligible passport saved in their profile. To participate, travelers must opt-in via their Mileage Plan account.

An updated Touchless Identity icon will appear on electronic boarding passes for those opting into the program. This icon grants access to dedicated Touchless ID lines at participating airports.

Despite using biometric verification, travelers are advised to carry REAL ID compliant identification as a backup if digital verification fails at TSA checkpoints. Alaska Airlines assures that data safety remains a priority, with the TSA managing all information related to the program's usage.
