Speaking at the 2025 Paris Air Show, Captain Ahmed Adel, CEO of EGYPTAIR, outlined the airline's expansion plans in the United States. This includes launching a new route to Los Angeles in 2027, which will be its longest flight based on its current network. The expansion strategy also involves increasing frequencies on existing U.S. routes.

The airline is set to receive its first Airbus A350 this December, with an initial order of 10 planes and options for six more. Captain Adel hinted that these options would be confirmed during the air show. "The first batch of seven A350s is going to complement the network and work in tandem with the 787s because the A350 is higher capacity," said Captain Adel.

Los Angeles has been identified as a key destination due to demand between Cairo and Los Angeles, despite no non-stop service having previously operated between them. According to OAG Traffic Analyzer data, 63,000 people traveled round-trip between these cities in the year ending July 2024.

EGYPTAIR aims to phase out its Boeing 777 fleet starting November 2026 as it expands its A350 fleet. Once they have eight A350 aircraft, new routes like Los Angeles will begin operations.

Additionally, EGYPTAIR plans to increase all U.S. routes to daily by early 2027. Currently operating flights include New York-JFK and Toronto daily; Washington Dulles International Airport twice-weekly; and Newark Liberty International Airport thrice-weekly.

Captain Adel stated that there was "no impact" from uncertainty surrounding U.S. President Donald Trump on passenger demand and emphasized their long-standing presence in the U.S. market since the 1980s: "We like this market."

In terms of performance metrics for their U.S. operations in 2024, EGYPTAIR achieved an average load factor of 73% across all routes with Newark being their best-performing route by load factor.

A direct connection from Los Angeles to Cairo will mark LAX's only non-stop service to Africa since Ethiopian Airlines' brief operation ended in early 2019.
