Delta Air Lines, a major global airline, operates nearly 1,000 aircraft from nine hub airports across the United States. Known for its extensive use of Airbus widebody aircraft, Delta is unique among U.S. airlines as it operates both the A330 and A350 models. The airline holds the distinction of being the largest operator of the Airbus A330 worldwide, with 78 in service and three more A330-900neos on order.

The A330-200 is Delta's rarest widebody aircraft type, with only 11 units in operation. These planes were delivered between 2004 and 2006 and are primarily deployed on routes requiring substantial premium traffic but lower overall demand. This June, Delta's A330-200s are scheduled to fly from several key hubs including Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport.

From Atlanta, Delta has planned 102 flights using the A330-200, including domestic routes to Detroit and Orlando for operational efficiency. Internationally, these aircraft will serve five destinations: Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Naples in Europe; Lagos in Africa; and Buenos Aires in South America.

Detroit will see 82 departures of the A330-200 this month. The aircraft will connect Detroit to European cities such as Frankfurt and London-Heathrow daily. Additionally, Dublin will be served by this model on select flights.

At Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, while primarily an A330-300 base, a single route to Dublin uses the A330-200 due to operational advantages shared with Detroit's schedule.

New York JFK sees limited use of the A330-200 now focused on a single route to Frankfurt. Historically common at JFK for various destinations like London and Zurich, Delta has since shifted these operations mainly to Atlanta and Detroit.

Salt Lake City hosts two international routes operated by the A330-200: regular services to London-Heathrow alongside a Seattle-Tacoma turnaround flight within June.

Despite their age—approaching 21 years—the A330-200s remain integral to Delta's fleet strategy into the next decade until replacements become necessary following future orders or developments.
