JetBlue is reportedly preparing to retire its Embraer E190 aircraft, with the final flight expected on September 4, 2025. Although there has been no official confirmation from JetBlue, aviation analysts and data from Cirium indicate that flight B61900 will be the last for the E190, departing from New York JFK Airport to Boston Logan International Airport.

The airline had announced plans to replace the aging E190 fleet with Airbus A220 aircraft. This transition aligns with JetBlue's strategy to modernize its fleet with more fuel-efficient planes. The Airbus A220 offers up to 25% more fuel efficiency and 50% noise reduction compared to older models.

JetBlue launched its Embraer 190 operations in November 2005 as the first customer of the 100-seat aircraft. The introduction of this model brought enhancements such as all-leather seats and larger television screens for passengers. As of April 2025, JetBlue ceased regular E190 flights from New York-JFK, phasing out these aircraft from several routes.

Currently, JetBlue has nine active E190s in its fleet, with an average age of 15.2 years. The airline plans to replace these with A220-300s, which have already been incorporated into service since April 2021.

As JetBlue phases out the E190s, it continues to expand its network using the newer A220s. In July alone, JetBlue scheduled an average of 360 E190 flights across various routes and expects a significant increase in flights operated by A220s in the coming months.

The shift marks a significant milestone in JetBlue's fleet evolution as it adapts to changing market demands and technological advancements.
