The Lufthansa Group has announced a significant development in its efforts to harmonize status benefits for its frequent travelers. Starting July 1, 2025, Frequent Travelers will gain access to ITA Airways lounges, enhancing the lounge network particularly for travel to and through Italy. This move is expected to provide a more seamless premium experience for customers traveling with the various airlines within the Lufthansa Group. Previously, Senators and HON Circle Members were granted access to these lounges in March.

Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group, stated: "The harmonization of our Frequent Traveler status benefits across the Lufthansa Group marks a significant step for our most loyal guests. It underlines our commitment to a first-class and seamless travel experience. By expanding lounge access and introducing additional privileges for Lufthansa Group status customers, we are offering more convenience and flexibility."

Marcus Frank, Vice President Loyalty at Lufthansa Group, added: "The new benefits for our guests are part of our ongoing efforts to further improve our loyalty program and offer added value to our status customers."

The new benefits include extended lounge access where all status customers can utilize lounges of both Lufthansa Group Airlines and ITA Airways in Milan, Rome, and Catania. This expansion significantly broadens their available lounge network at Italian airports.

Further privileges have been introduced for Frequent Travelers, Senators, and HON Circle Members on ITA Airways flights to ensure an even smoother travel experience. These passengers will benefit from priority check-in, additional baggage allowance, waiting list priority as well as priority boarding, fast lane access, accelerated baggage handling, and free seat reservations.

Since ITA Airways joined as the fifth network airline of the Lufthansa Group earlier this year in February 2025, there have been several enhancements in passenger experience. Miles & More members can now earn and redeem miles on all ITA Airways flights along with Points and Qualifying Points; Business Class passengers also earn HON Circle Points.

In March 2025, ITA Airways relocated operations into Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport and Terminal 2 at Munich Airport aligning with other Lufthansa Group carriers under one roof at these hubs. Additionally, since the summer timetable of 2025 was implemented customers have benefited from a codeshare partnership offering over 100 new connections within Europe. The codeshare offers will extend to long-haul flights from July 1st onward. Furthermore, ITA Airways is set to join Star Alliance by early 2026 marking another key milestone.
