Delta Air Lines has announced the completion of a $4 billion renovation project at LaGuardia Airport's Terminal C. The transformation, which consolidated the old Terminals C and D into a modern facility, was completed in partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ). This upgrade comes as summer travel is set to increase.
The construction began in 2016 and took six years to reach a level where it could open to customers in 2022. Delta now operates over 220 daily flights from LaGuardia, making it the airport's largest carrier. The new Terminal C features advanced technologies and hospitality options aimed at enhancing the travel experience. For SkyMiles members, TSA precheck Touchless ID allows travelers to check bags and clear security using facial scans.
Accessibility improvements were central to the terminal's design, offering features like an outdoor sky deck, interfaith chapel, pet relief areas, and a quiet sensory room for travelers with specific needs. Public art curated with the Queens Museum and various dining options further enhance the terminal's offerings.
