Iran Air | Airbus

Iran Air continues to operate a fleet of vintage Airbus A300 aircraft, with geopolitical tensions and sanctions preventing the acquisition of newer planes. The airline currently has five Airbus A300s in its fleet, including four A300-600Rs and one A300B4.

The four A300-600Rs have an average age of 32.1 years. According to Flightradar24 data, EP-IBC and EP-IBD were the last to fly on June 12th, traveling from Jeddah to Rasht and Sari. Another aircraft, EP-IBA, last flew on May 31st from Jeddah to Tehran.

The fifth aircraft is an A300B4 registered as EP-IBG, which first flew in August 1984. It joined Iran Air in 2009 after serving several other airlines. This aircraft has accumulated 71,888 flight hours over 25,786 cycles by March 31st, 2025. It features a two-class configuration with a total of 254 seats.

A single Airbus A300B2 is also listed as part of Iran Air's fleet but has not flown for more than four years. This aircraft was placed into storage in Tehran in 2021 after being impounded in Baghdad from August 1984 to September 1990 due to a hijacking incident.

Airbus describes the historical significance of the A300: "In the 1960s, companies in France, Germany, the UK, and Spain increasingly cooperated... In 1972, Airbus presented the A300."
