American Airlines has announced plans to expand its Admirals Club and introduce a new Flagship Lounge at Miami International Airport (MIA). This expansion is set to nearly double the lounge space available for passengers. The airline recently completed similar projects at Philadelphia International Airport, where it opened its fifth Flagship Lounge and ninth premium lounge globally.
The upcoming project at MIA will involve converting the existing Flagship Lounge, which was inaugurated in 2017, into an expanded Admirals Club. A new Flagship Lounge will also be constructed. Currently, MIA hosts three lounges: an Admirals Club at D15 and both Flagship and Admirals Club lounges at D30.
Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the project: “We’re excited to expand and elevate the premium experience for our Flagship customers and also provide a more spacious and calming environment in our Admirals Club lounges. Our strong partnership with airport leaders and county officials has allowed us to identify solutions that will make our customers’ experience even better, and we’re eager to work with them in building out this enhanced space.”
