Regional airline Cape Air is stepping in to fill the void left by JetBlue Airways at Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) with a five-route expansion this summer. Starting July 3, Cape Air will operate four daily flights connecting ISP with Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), utilizing its nine-seat Tecnam P2012 Traveller prop planes.

JetBlue initially launched the Boston-to-Long Island route in April but suspended it less than two weeks later. Despite this, JetBlue continues to serve Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Orlando International Airport (MCO), and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) from ISP. Although Cape Air is a partner of JetBlue, allowing travelers to earn TrueBlue Loyalty Points on flights booked through JetBlue's website, the new Long Island flights are not yet part of this partnership.

Cape Air is also expanding its New England routes by adding four new connections, including one new airport. As of June 13, the airline has started seasonal weekend service between Westchester County Airport (HPN) and Provincetown Municipal Airport (PVC), marking the only nonstop connection between a New York-area airport and Cape Cod.

On July 3, Cape Air will begin operations at Norwood Memorial Airport (OWD) in the southwestern Boston suburbs, offering seasonal summer flights to Martha's Vineyard Airport (MVY) and Nantucket Memorial Airport (ACK). Additionally, starting September 29, Cape Air will connect New Bedford Regional Airport (EWB) with BOS twice daily. This route is included in their partnership with JetBlue and can be booked on JetBlue's website.

According to aviation analytics firm Cirium, Cape Air's new routes will increase its seat offerings by about a third this June through August compared to last year. The schedule also shows an approximate 10% growth from the same period in 2019.

Details of Cape Air's new routes include:

- Boston-Long Island: Four daily year-round flights from July 3

- Boston-New Bedford: Twice daily year-round flights from September 29

- Norwood-Martha's Vineyard: One daily flight Thursday to Monday from July 3 through October 13

- Norwood-Nantucket: One daily flight Thursday to Monday from July 3 through October 13

- Westchester-Provincetown: Two daily flights Thursday to Monday from June 13 through October 14
