The Cathay Group has announced its traffic figures for May 2025. Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau highlighted the group's achievement of reaching 100 passenger destinations worldwide, with six new destinations added in May and June. Lau stated, "This important milestone underscores our commitment to enhancing the global connectivity of our Hong Kong hub."
Cathay Pacific reported a 36.1% increase in passengers compared to May 2024, with Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs) up by 31.2%. The load factor reached 84.7%, attributed to strong long-haul demand and a special fares campaign launched in February. Lau commented on business travel demand, saying it "remained robust" and noted an extensive lounge enhancement plan at Hong Kong International Airport.
Cathay Cargo experienced a 12.2% rise in cargo carried year-on-year, with Available Freight Tonne Kilometres (AFTKs) increasing by 8%. Despite the 'Golden Week' holidays, growth was seen in both Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland markets. Cathay Cargo was also recognized as Airline of the Year – Asia at the World Air Cargo Awards 2025.
