Air Canada has announced two significant developments this week. The airline launched a new route from Montréal Trudeau International Airport to Edinburgh Airport in Scotland, marking its first non-stop service on this path. The inaugural flight, AC936, departed slightly later than scheduled but made up time during the journey, arriving ahead of schedule.

Mark Galardo, Air Canada's Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, stated: "This new connection between Canada and Scotland deepens our ties and commitment to the UK market. Our Montreal-Edinburgh flights are designed to connect our customers across North America conveniently to Edinburgh with seamless travel through our Montréal hub."

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 is being used for these flights due to its suitability for lower-demand transatlantic routes. The service will operate three times weekly until September 7th.

In addition to the new route, Air Canada expanded its intermodal connectivity by including Lufthansa Express Rail in its codeshare agreement with Lufthansa. This allows passengers flying into Frankfurt Airport to book train connections within Germany on a single ticket. Galardo noted that this expansion provides "customer support and rebooking assistance in the event of disruptions."
