Chicago O'Hare International Airport is under scrutiny following two security breaches on its airfield in May. The first incident involved a Doordash driver entering the airfield without clearance, and ten days later, several cars accessed secure areas without proper screening.

On May 27, 2025, a Chicago Department of Aviation security officer allegedly allowed over 50 cars to pass through a checkpoint without verifying their credentials. This lapse in protocol has raised concerns about the airport's security measures. According to CBS, camera footage captured the vehicles bypassing the necessary checks.

The airport responded by stating that "Safety and security are the top priorities of the CDA." The matter has been referred to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for investigation. Following a similar breach on May 17 involving a DoorDash driver, CDA leadership met with Lincoln Security to address the issue. The employee responsible is no longer employed by Lincoln Security.

These incidents have sparked discussions about potential vulnerabilities at Chicago O'Hare Airport. Although they did not pose immediate threats to public safety, they highlight areas needing improvement in airport security protocols.

Chicago O'Hare is known as one of the busiest airports globally by flight volume due to its high number of regional jet operations from major carriers like United Airlines and American Airlines. Given its significance in aviation, ensuring robust security measures remains critical.
