The Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card is set to increase its annual fee to $795, making it one of the more expensive premium travel rewards cards available. Despite this rise in cost, many cardholders, including the author of a recent article, plan to retain their membership due to the card's updated benefits and credits.

One significant change is the introduction of new statement credits. Cardholders can now receive up to $250 annually for subscriptions like Apple TV+ and Apple Music. Additionally, there is a $300 annual StubHub credit that provides up to $150 in statement credits twice a year until December 31, 2027. This addition is particularly appealing for those who enjoy attending shows and events.

Another new benefit includes an annual $500 The Edit by Chase Travel℠ credit, divided into two biannual $250 statement credits for prepaid bookings at select properties. These bookings come with perks such as complimentary breakfast for two and room upgrades when available.

Existing benefits are also being maintained or slightly adjusted. The flexible $300 travel credit remains unchanged, applicable automatically to various travel-related purchases such as ride-hailing services and Airbnb rentals. A returning feature is the $120 Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or Nexus statement credit available every four years.

Chase has also made changes in its reward rates under certain categories. For example, flights booked via Chase Travel will now earn 8 points per dollar spent instead of 5 points previously. Directly booked flights and hotels will earn 4 points per dollar spent instead of the previous rate of 3 points.

Cardholders can continue enjoying access to Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club locations and automatic IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status with associated benefits like room upgrades and late checkout where available.

Current cardholders will see these changes take effect on October 26th; however, they will only pay the increased fee during their next anniversary date after this period.

Despite some devaluation in reward rates within specific categories, the overall package still offers value that exceeds its cost when fully utilized according to personal spending habits.
